M4 collision driver in hospital

A man is recovering in hospital after his car collided with another, hit a motorway crash barrier, turned on its roof and caught fire.

The collision between a VW Polo and a Nissan Micra happened on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions 16 and 17 on Tuesday.

The male driver of the VW was pulled free from the wreckage of his car by passing motorists before it burnt out.

The driver of the Nissan has undergone surgery for a serious elbow fracture.
