Farepak families receive vouchers

Vouchers Vouchers for the 150,000 victims of collapsed hamper company Farepak are starting to arrive in homes.

The vouchers are from the Farepak Response Fund, set up to help savers across the UK who lost up to £50m when the company collapsed.

The fund has raised £6.4m from the public and companies.

The Swindon-based company went into administration in October. Those affected were expected to get about 15p for every pound saved.

Distributed by Farepak agents, the vouchers are redeemable at 75 stores including Boots, Woolworths and Argos.

Farepak victim Alison Butler said: "It's my kids I feel sorry for.

"But I can give them something now, which I'm grateful for."

In the wake of Farepak's collapse, the Treasury is set to launch a review of Christmas saving clubs and the lack of regulations governing them.

On average, Farepak customers are estimated to have lost about £400 each, but some are thought to have lost nearer £2,000.
