Vision proposes 35,000 new homes
More than 35,000 new homes are being proposed for Swindon in the next decade to meet a predicted rise in population.
A plan for the town's future, which has just gone out to public consultation, forecasts an increase from 180,000 to 250,000 residents by 2026.
The Economic Development Vision was drawn up by a partnership of council, public agency and business leaders.
It also proposes that the town makes more of growing markets in China and India to boost its economy.
The vision suggests that Swindon will become internationally renowned as a centre of innovation, science and technology.
People are being invited to give their views on the document, which is on display at the town's libraries and online. The deadline for comments is 30 September.
