Stray cow prompts driver warning

Motorists are being urged to be on the look-out for an escaped cow which caused an accident after straying on to the M1 motorway in West Yorkshire.

A Toyota Corolla crashed after the driver was forced to swerve to avoid hitting the cow between junctions 38 and 39 near the Woolley Edge services.

A passenger in the car suffered minor injuries.

Police said despite an extensive search the cow had not been found and urged drivers in that area to be cautious.
