Arrest made over cricketer attack

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after an attack in Leeds that left an Australian cricketer seriously injured.

Three men were attacked outside the Mint Nightclub on Harrison Street in the early hours of 14 June, West Yorkshire Police said.

Cricketer Chris Thompson, 26, from Perth, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but has now been discharged.

The man, from Osmandthorpe in Leeds, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and two charges of assault.

He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
