Armed raiders flee empty-handed

Armed raiders fired a gun during a botched attempt to steal cash from a security van in a Leeds suburb.

Two masked man approached the van, which was being used to re-stock cash machines at the Halifax Bank at Bramley shopping Centre on Tuesday morning.

But the security guard in the van saw the men and fled into the bank where his colleague was working.

The bank's doors were locked and the raiders fled empty-handed on foot. The guards were badly shaken.
