Arsonists strike twice at venue

Arsonists have struck twice at a Leeds social club within days with a petrol bomb being hurled at the building followed by a car being torched.

A Peugeot estate car parked outside the club was set on fire and burned out during the early hours.

A bottle containing petrol was thrown at the wall of Pudsey Liberal Club by a gang of youths on Sunday, 29 June, West Yorkshire Police said.

The fire eventually burned itself out without causing serious damage.

Det Insp Neil Beattie said: "Police take incidents of this nature very seriously and we are doing everything we can to investigate them."

He said patrols were being stepped up in the area to deter further attacks.
