Four arrested in drug den raids

Four people have been arrested and a large amount of heroin seized during raids on two suspected drug dens at a tower block in Leeds.

Police said the raids followed a six-month surveillance operation. The flats, at Clyde Court in Lower Wortley, have been closed down for three months.

A 52-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman have been arrested for alleged drugs offences.

Police said two female sex workers were also found in the flats and arrested.

A total of 70 people have been arrested during a crackdown on drug dealers in the Wortley area in the last six months.

Ch Insp Paul Money, from West Yorkshire Police, said: "I want to create a hostile environment for the small minority of individuals who have been undermining the quality of life for residents."

Police asked anyone with information about anti-social behaviour or premises involved with drugs to contact them in confidence.
