Man is charged with cemetery rape

A 47-year-old man has been charged with the rape of a woman in a graveyard in West Yorkshire.

The man from the Todmorden area is accused of raping the 22-year-old in Stoney Royd Cemetery, on Water Lane, Halifax on Sunday afternoon.

He is also charged with offences of robbery and theft.

He was arrested in Scarborough on Tuesday when he handed himself in to police. He will appear before Calder Magistrates' Court on Friday.
