Police name victim of murder bid

George Lodge Police in West Yorkshire have named an elderly man who suffered life threatening injuries during an attack at his home.

George Beaumont Lodge, 81, was found with serious head injuries at his home in The Royds, Clayton West, Hudderfield at 0100 GMT on Tuesday.

He was taken to Hudderfield Royal Infirmary and later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
