Arrest after hit and run with boy

Tyler Jessop A four-year-old boy is in hospital with critical injuries after he was hit by a car that failed to stop in Dewsbury.

Tyler Jessop was playing with friends before he was struck on Lees Hall Road, Thornhill Lees, on Wednesday.

West Yorkshire Police said a man, 24, from Ossett, has been arrested on supicion of failing to stop.

Tyler was taken to Dewsbury District Hospital but was later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary. Police have made an appeal for witnesses.

The suspect is being questioned by detectives at Dewsbury Police Station.
