Dead man's body found near canal

Police are treating the death of a man whose body was found by a canal in Leeds as suspicious.

The body was found on Cockshott Lane by the Leeds Liverpool canal in Bramley at about 1030 GMT on Sunday.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the man is thought to be in his late 20s or early 30s.

The cause of death is unknown but police said they were treating it as suspicious. A post-mortem examination was due to take place on Monday.
