Bird spotters celebrate red kites

Red Kite The RSPB is launching its weekend red kite viewing scheme.

Volunteers will be on hand every Sunday at the birds' viewing platform which is based at Yorkshire Water's Eccup reservoir near Leeds.

It is an opportunity for people to spot and learn about the red kites which were reintroduced to Yorkshire in 1999.

RSPB volunteer Kirsten Whittaker says the red kite is an "amazing" bird and it will be an interesting day out for the people who visit the platform.
