Fatal car crash man identified

A young man who died when the car he was travelling in hit a street sign in the West Midlands has been identified.

David Carpenter, aged 18, of Olton, Solihull, died after the Skoda Fabia crashed in Highlands Road, Shirley, in the early hours of Sunday.

An 18-year-old man from Acocks Green and a 17-year-old boy from Solihull both suffered minor injuries.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the crash and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

West Midlands Police has appealed for witnesses to contact them.
