Neglected dog rescued from garden

A neglected dog, described as just skin and bone and with barely the strength to walk, has been found in the West Midlands.

The German shepherd-collie cross breed was found by a woman in her garden in Ward End, Birmingham.

The dog was starving, badly infested with fleas, dehydrated and anaemic.

Animal welfare officer Vicky Allwood said she was trying to trace the owner and would look to prosecute whoever was responsible for its condition.

The dog is micro-chipped but the data does not correspond to the area she was found.

It is thought she had been sold on and the database not updated.
