Roads reopen after shooting probe

Scene in Birmingham

Streets which were sealed off after reports shots were fired there in the early hours have reopened.

About 30 officers conducted tests on the A38 Bristol Road at Belgrave Middleway and motorists were urged to avoid the area.

West Midlands Police said a call at 0420 BST reported shots being fired, possibly from two vehicles.

Police attended the scene earlier but said no vehicles were seen and there was no evidence of anyone being hurt.

Officers are continuing to make inquiries about the alleged incident and will be studying CCTV cameras footage, a police spokeswoman said.

Police thanked the public, especially motorists, for their patience and co-operation during the operation.
