Man held over pedestrian's death

A 20-year-old man has been arrested over the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a car in Wolverhampton.

The 57-year-old man died in hospital after being hit by a Mercedes on the A41, close to the junction with Clifton Street, at 2220 BST on Wednesday.

The man is being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop following a road traffic collision, police said.

West Midlands Police are appealing for any witnesses.
