A memorial service is being held for a nine-year-old cancer victim made famous when she tossed the coin ahead of a women's Wimbledon tennis final.
Emily Bailes, of Bloxwich, Walsall, was diagnosed with kidney cancer three months before the 2004 tennis tournament. She died in March.
Maria Sharapova, who went on to win the women's final, sent a message on DVD for the service at Emily's old school.
It was being held on what would have been Emily's 10th birthday.
A total of 450 children at Lower Farm School, Bloxwich, were due to release a balloon each in her memory.
Emily's family have now also started a fund in her name to raise money for the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group.
