Life for 'best friend' murderer

The murder scene

A 36-year-old man who strangled his best friend, set fire to the body and then dumped it at a West Midlands market has been jailed for life.

Jason Perks, who admitted murdering Darren Eaton last year, was told at Wolverhampton Crown Court he would serve a minimum of 14 years in jail.

The pair had been living rough in the city and both had drink problems, the court heard.

Mr Eaton's body was found at Wolverhampton market on 10 October.

The court heard that after a drunken argument Perks lost control and attacked Mr Eaton, before wrapping him in a blanket and setting him on fire near the market in Salop Street.
