Sledgehammers used in armed raid

Scene of crime Three men armed with sledgehammers attacked two security guards who were loading a cash machine in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said the men got away with a "substantial amount" of cash after the incident at the Premier store on Bristol Road in Selly Oak.

Police said no-one was injured in the attack and the shop had reopened following the raid just before midday.

Police recovered a vehicle near the scene. They were continuing their inquiries and appealed for information.
