Thousands of blankets for orphans

A woman from the West Midlands and her friends have knitted more than 9,000 blankets for children in Africa orphaned by Aids.

Vera Jarvis, from Halesowen, has had the help of everybody she knows and her home is now packed with the blankets.

"I want it to go as one consignment," she said.

"I'm way over 9,000 already and I've still got quite a number of people that are still going to be sending in their various things that they've made."
