BBC's city big screen goes blank

A BBC big screen is to go blank due to a hitch with planning regulations.

The screen, in Victoria Square, Birmingham, has been run in conjunction with the city council.

A spokesman said after a High Court hearing the council would be stopping screening "due to technicalities in the planning process".

He added that another hearing would take place in the New Year and that the council was unable to comment further until this had been concluded.

The screen was moved from its temporary home in Chamberlain Square to a new home in Victoria Square, next to the newly refurbished town hall, four weeks ago.
