Pub sprayed with cigarette smell

The cigarette spray A Birmingham pub is spraying the smell of cigarettes around its bar after locals said they missed the smoky atmosphere.

The Craven Arms pub in the city centre is now using a special "Fag Ash" aerosol to recreate the smoking aroma.

Landlady Sarah Thornton said customers were missing its traditional atmosphere since the smoking ban was introduced in England on 1 July.

She said she needed to encourage smokers to come back to the pub.

Ms Thornton said: "We've been trying to bring back the good old days and I've found that people do not feel like they have been out unless they go home smelling of stale cigarettes.

"The atmosphere has changed quite a lot and the only thing I could think of to bring back the atmosphere and bring people back into the pub from the garden was to make it smell like it was.

"When people sit down the smell around them stops them from wanting to go back out for another cigarette."
