Pair jailed for trafficking women

Atilla Makai and Kinga Andrea Borcsok A couple have been jailed after admitting bringing women into the UK to work as prostitutes.

Kinga Andrea Borcsok, 28, and Atilla Makai, 22, both from Hungary, were caught following a raid on the Cuddles Massage Parlour in Birmingham.

The pair, who both admitted conspiracy to traffic humans for the purposes of prostitution, recruited the women through a Hungarian website.

Borcsok was jailed for 28 months and Makai for 40 months.

'Sexual control'

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard women would send their personal details to Borcsok, who went under the name Lilly, via e-mail.

She would tell them to buy a one-way ticket to England where they would be met by Makai, who would hand them over to men involved in prostitution.

"For that he would receive a substantial finder fee in the region of £3,000 a time," said Simon Drew, prosecuting.

One of the girls was twice raped by a man to whom Makai sold her and ended up working at Cuddles in Hagley Road.

Judge Nicholas Webb, sentencing the pair, said: "It is organised crime and it is based on a calculated and deliberate act involving the sexual control and exploitation of women in a country that is foreign to them."

Jas Mann, defending Borcsok, a former nanny, said she did not know the girls were sent to work as prostitutes; instead she believed they worked for an escort agency.

Rupert Bowers, defending Makai, said his client acted only as a 'meeter and greeter' at the airport and was not involved in prostitution.
