Companies urge 'save our sauce'

HP sauce A website is being launched on Tuesday with the aim of keeping the production of HP sauce in Birmingham.

Bosses at US company Heinz want to move the famous sauce from its factory in Aston to Holland by 2007 with the loss of 125 jobs.

Businesses in the area are backing a campaign led by unions and MPs to prevent the move.

The Save Our Sauce website contains an online petition against the closure and a plan for campaign stickers.

Khalid Mahmood, MP for Perry Barr, said the Save Our Sauce website was part of a mounting campaign to keep the production of a "great British icon" in Aston.
