Airport 100-bed hotel is approved

Plans for a 100-bedroom hotel at Durham Tees Valley Airport have been approved.

Peel Holdings said the £8.5m hotel would be just 300m from the airport terminal building, and is now looking for a franchise to support the project.

Last year the company objected when two rival hotel projects close to the site near Darlington were revealed.

The proposals for the three-star hotel were given the go-ahead by Darlington Council. Peel Holdings said the development would boost the economy.
