Man injured in attack outside pub

A man has been badly hurt in what police have described as a serious assault outside a County Durham pub.

Emergency services called to the Beamish Mary public house on Saturday night found an 18-year-old with a head injury.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham but later transferred to Newcastle General Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Detectives have appealed for anyone in the Beamish Mary to contact them.
