Girl charged with armpit stabbing

A 16-year-old girl has been charged with wounding after a man was stabbed in the armpit during a party.

The assault happened in an upstairs flat in Park Road, South Moor, Stanley, County Durham, early on Monday morning.

The 26-year-old victim is still in Durham's University Hospital where his condition is stable.

The teenager, who was charged on Wednesday, will appear before magistrates in Consett on Friday, Durham Police confirmed.
