Woman raped after nightclub visit

Police on Wearside are hunting a rapist who attacked a 23-year-old woman who had just left a nightclub.

The woman had been at the Groove nightclub in the Concord area of Washington on 17 August and was on her way home.

Police said she was grabbed from behind in an alley near Shafto Terrace, then pushed to the ground and raped.

The attacker is described as white, in his early 20s, with short spiky dark hair and was wearing a white t-shirt.
