Gun found after armed pub raid

Police investigating an armed robbery at a pub in County Durham have arrested a man and a woman and seized a firearm.

Detectives said the robbery was carried out by a motorcyclist at the isolated Knitsley Mill pub, near Consett, while the landlord was cashing up on 30 June.

The raider fled with cash after threatening the publican with a gun.

A 37-year-old man and a woman, 31, were arrested following raids in Derwentside. The man has been bailed and the woman is still being quizzed.
