Scaffold 'theft man's drug farm'

Cannabis plants worth £60,000 have been discovered in County Durham after police searched the property of a man arrested for scaffolding theft.

Sixty cannabis plants were found at the man's house in Marigold Crescent in the Bournmoor area of Chester-le-Street when police searched two bedrooms.

The 34-year-old man was then also arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis plants at his home.

A green Ford van was also seized and will be examined by forensic experts.

The property, thought to be a privately-owned former council house, contained hydroponics equipment needed to grow the plant.
