Bag snatcher escapes with £1,500

A robber has escaped with almost £1,500 after grabbing a bag from a credit company employee in County Durham.

The 54-year-old woman was walking along Pine Avenue in Burnopfield on Friday afternoon when she was attacked.

Her assailant dragged her to the ground before escaping with the bag, which also contained hundreds of pounds in credit vouchers.

Durham Police believe the man was lying in wait and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
