Fireworks link to blaze at house

A house fire in Darlington may have been started by fireworks pushed through a letterbox, officers say.

One man had to be rescued by firefighters when he became trapped upstairs by flames and smoke in the building in North Road.

He was treated at the scene by ambulance crew.

A fire service spokesman says it looks as if someone has deliberately done something to the letterbox, and the incident is being investigated.
