Pair held after tower block death

Two people have been arrested after a man was found dead in a tower block on South Tyneside.

The 45-year-old was found late on Thursday in a flat at the Unity Hall tower at Mill Dam, South Shields.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said a 37-year-old woman and a man aged 31 were later arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs.

Detectives are questioning the pair in South Shields. The identity of the dead man has not been released.
