Robbers steal cash at bookmakers

Robbers with hammers threatened staff in a bookmakers in Tyneside and fled with a quantity of cash.

The three men targeted Ladbrokes on Kirkwood Drive in Kenton on Monday.

A getaway vehicle was used during the incident and witnesses reported that it collided with a number of cars before it was dumped in Kenton.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said that employees at the store were extremely shaken by the incident but none were injured.
