Robbers tie up care home worker

A care worker was tied up by two masked men during a robbery at a residential home on South Tyneside.

The pair, who were wearing balaclavas, forced their way into the Mencap-run home on Candlish Street in South Shields, and stole a quantity of cash.

Police said they were working with staff to look after the welfare of all residents and the victim, who was left shocked but unhurt.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, are asked to contact Nothumbria Police.
