Green light for £2m arcade plan

Plans for a major indoor amusement complex have been given the go-ahead by South Tyneside Council.

The £2m attraction, in South Shields, will be open all year round and include a go-karting track, a climbing wall, and a restaurant.

Ocean Beach will also contain a small 4D cinema - one which shows 3D films and with moving seats.

Work is due to start on the sea front site, opposite South Marine Park, later this year.

When complete, it will create 30 full time jobs, and the construction work will give a boost to the region's building industry.

Sunderland based architectural firm PlanIT Design, said it would be the only attraction of its type between the Scottish Borders and Scarborough.
