Police warn drivers over weather

Extreme weather conditions have prompted police to warn drivers across the whole Northumbria force area to take care when out on the roads.

Heavy snow is affecting parts of Tyne, Wear and Northumberland.

Motorists have been advised to drive at a moderate speed and maintain a safe distance between vehicles in front.

Northumbria Police has also warned drivers to look out for pedestrians who may be walking on the road to avoid snow or ice on paths.
