Metro multi-storey car park opens

A new 400-space multi-storey car park to encourage more people to leave their cars and take the Metro is due to open on North Tyneside.

It is hoped the new facility at Northumberland Park Metro station in North Tyneside, will attract drivers from the busy A19 and A186 roads.

Commuters from Whitley Bay and Monkseaton are also expected to use the car park when it opens on 1 December.

The Metro station opened in 2005 and has been used by 1.5m travellers.
