A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a teenage boy was stabbed in the buttocks in Newcastle.

The 14-year-old boy suffered multiple stab wounds, mainly to the buttocks, during the assault in the Scotswood area of the city on 24 October.

A 32-year-old man was arrested after police inquiries and charged on Thursday with causing GBH, police said.

He is due to appear before magistrates in Newcastle on Friday.
