Pair remanded over police crash

Two people have appeared in court in connection with a road pursuit, during which a stolen car crashed into a police vehicle.

The driver of the Nissan refused to stop for officers in South Tyneside on Thursday, said Northumbria Police.

The Micra was stopped at the crash site in New Street, South Shields.

A man, aged 20, and a youth, 16, were remanded in custody by South Tyneside magistrates, charged with aggravated vehicle taking and associated offences.
