Two teenagers have undergone surgery after they were injured when a speedway bike crashed into the crowd at a race meeting in Northumberland.
A 14-year-old girl suffered head injuries and a boy, 16, hurt his shoulder when the bike left the track at Shieldfield Park, Berwick.
The race between the Berwick Bandits and the Isle of Wight was called off after the accident on Saturday night.
Two bikes collided sending one 20ft (6m) into the air and over barriers.
The girl underwent an operation at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary to treat head wounds. Her condition is described as "not serious".
Bike catapulted
The boy was treated at Wansbeck General Hospital in Northumberland.
Four riders were taking part in the race when Berwick's Scott Smith and opponent Paul Fry lost control at a corner.
Both riders hit the fence and Fry was catapulted over the barrier landing near the crowd about 50ft (15m) from the track.
Smith came off his bike but stayed on the right side of the fence while his bike was catapulted into the crowd injuring the two teenagers.
Fry, who sustained suspected broken toes, knee ligament damage and cuts and bruises, was treated at the scene. Smith has whiplash injuries.
Northumbria Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident.
