Window gunshot suspects quizzed

Armed police have arrested two people on Tyneside after a house window was shattered by a shotgun blast.

Officers were called to Coquet Avenue, South Shields, in the early hours of Thursday, after residents reported hearing gunshots.

Later that day, armed officers surrounded two properties in Imeary Street and Chesterton Road, where they arrested the two suspects.

A man, aged 20, and a 17-year-old youth are now being questioned.

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the incident.

Detectives particularly want to speak to a man in his 50s, of slim build and wearing grey clothes, who was in the area at the time.
