Man arrested over car crush death

A man has been arrested over the death of a Tyneside pensioner, who was crushed against his parked car.

Colin Perkins, 84, was unloading his Nissan Micra in Delhi Crescent, Gateshead on Friday, when he was hit by a Land Rover.

The force of the impact sent the Micra into a parked Ford Fiesta. The pensioner died from multiple injuries.

The 41-year-old Land Rover driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
