Police use stun gun during fight
Police used a stun gun and riot-control gas to subdue fighting football supporters at a South Shields pub following the Wear-Tyne derby.
Officers were called to the disturbance at the Grey Hen in Harton Lane on Saturday evening.
They used CS gas to break up the violent group and a Taser to incapacitate one man.
Five men were arrested and charged with being drunk and disorderly. No-one was injured during the incident.
It is the second time in two days that Northumbria Police have discharged a Taser device, which delivers a 50,000 volt shock.
On Friday, a Sunderland officer used a stun gun to restrain a 44-year-old man suspected of having a firearm, though no weapon was found.
