Thousands run for cancer charity
A 5km race is taking place in Gateshead to help raise money for cancer sufferers.
The women-only Race for Life event in Saltwell Park is expected to raise £140,000 in aid of Cancer Research UK.
More than 3,000 runners are expected to take part including double breast cancer survivor Doreen Lamb, of Fulwell, in Sunderland.
Since Race for Life began in 1994, women across the country have raised over £100 million for the charity.
