Pigeons killed in allotment raid

Racing pigeons have been killed and others badly injured during a break-in at an allotment on Teesside.

Equipment was also stolen from a cabin on the site at Chester Road in the Dyke House area of Hartlepool, police said.

It is believed a dog was used to attack some of the birds, which suffered broken legs and wings. Police described the 71-year-old owner as "devastated".

Anyone with any information about the incident overnight on 11 January is asked to contact Cleveland Police.
