Bag of detonators stolen from car

Detonator

A bag of 10 detonators has been stolen from a car in Middlesbrough.

The devices, which contain a small amount of explosives, were snatched from a locked Renault Megane parked in the Grove Hill estate on Sunday.

They were in a blue laptop-shaped shoulder bag with the words "Look Out" in white lettering on the front.

A police spokeswoman said that in their current state they did not pose any danger but they could cause an injury if they were tampered with.

The detonators, which are yellow and about two inches in diameter, are normally placed on railway tracks to warn workers further down the line of any approaching trains.
