Hundreds of daffodil bulbs have been planted in Middlesbrough by a mother whose 21-year-old son was killed by his addiction to alcohol.
Steven Massey, who was from Grangetown, died last year from an alcohol-related liver disease.
Anne Massey planted 766 bulbs to mark the number of substance users who have taken steps to recovery in the area over the past year.
The bulbs were planted at Victoria Park in Grangetown on Wednesday morning.
The event was organised by the Redcar and Cleveland Safer Communities Partnership.
Ms Massey said: "The people of Grangetown are brilliant but as far as the young lads and lasses go, there's nothing for them to do and that's when the drinking comes in.
"I hope they talk over with their parents if they have a problem with drink or drugs and don't leave it too late.
"There are agencies that can help and hopefully Steven won't have died in vain."
