Woodland path project completed

A £33,000 scheme to improve access to a popular woodland and conservation site on Teesside has been completed.

Redcar and Cleveland Council has laid a new stone surface on a one-kilometre (0.6-mile) stretch of path in Kirkleatham Wood.

Council leader George Dunning said the work had opened the wood to families with pushchairs and disabled people.

He said the scheme had also provided a safe route for pupils at Kirkleatham Hall School.

Mr Dunning said: "The woodland is well used on a daily basis for recreation, exercise and enjoyment and often frequented by local schools for education trips and exercise.

"So we're delighted to be able to announce that the works are now complete."
